Survey, support Dak Nong province to complete dossiers submitted to UNESCO for recognition of global geopark.

To support the People’s Committee of Dak Nong province in developing and completing the dossier submitted to UNESCO for recognition of global geopark, in August 2018, a delegation of Vietnam Institute of Geosciences and Mineral Resources including Viet Nam Center on Karst and Geoheritage cooperate with the People’s Committee of Dak Nong province to survey more than 1,000 places in Dak Song, Dak Glong and Gia Nghia districts. In addition, they research some heritage in Dak Mil, Krong No, Cu Jut districts. This is basis to evaluate, rank, propose and add valuable geological and cultural heritage to the submitted to UNESCO for recognition of global geopark.

During this survey, the delegation of Vietnam Institute of Geosciences and Mineral Resources discovered more than 100 valuable heritages of geology, geomorphology and culture to enrich the distribution heritage map of the locality.

At present, Vietnam Institute of Geosciences and Mineral Resources, Viet Nam Center on Karst and Geoheritage  are evaluating heritage sites, analyzing rock samples, completing survey reports and continuing to consult Dak Nong province completing dossiers submitted to UNESCO for recognition of global geopark. Work items are being implemented by Vietnam Institute of Geosciences and Mineral Resources, Viet Nam Center on Karst and Geoheritage in an urgent way to meet the required progress.
